Can Water-Damaged Drywall Be Repaired?
Water-damaged drywall may be repaired, locally replaced, or reviewed by a specialist depending on the cause and condition.
The Source Comes First
Permanent drywall closure should not cover active moisture. The plumbing, roof, stucco, waterproofing, appliance, or other source should be corrected before finish work.
Visible Dryness Is Not the Whole Story
A dry-looking surface does not prove concealed board, insulation, framing, or cavities are dry. Soft, swollen, sagging, odor-affected, or contaminated materials may need specialty review.
Repair or Replacement
Small stains after source correction may be handled differently than board with damaged gypsum core, failing paper, broad staining, wet insulation, or ceiling sagging.

Small, clearly visible repairs may be reviewed from photos. Larger, water-related, multi-unit, or approval-driven scopes may need a service visit or the $250 Site Evaluation + Written Bid Package.
